A Pre-Order Grafting Request is an order for us to produce the specific tree that we don't currently have available in stock. We must graft the tree and then it must go through a multi-month process to heal and grow. Only Once the small tree has completed two flushes of growth since it was grafted do we consider it ready to leave our nursery.

Mallika is from India, a hybrid of the Dasheri and Neelum mangos that was selected in a breeding program conducted during the 1970s. It later became commercially adapted due to strong yields and excellent eating quality, and is now grown on consisdrable commercial scale in India. Mallika was thereafter introduced to south Florida, where it has become propagated in the nursery trade here as a backyard tree.
The fruit are oblong in shape, flatly compressed lengthwise, and are medium-sized, turning yellow at maturity and averaging close to a pound in weight. The flesh is yellow, firm but fiberless, with a pronounced citrus flavor when properly ripened. The seed is monoembryonic.
Despite having been promoted by some as a "condo mango", Mallika trees are actually moderately vigorous growers, with dense spreading canopy. They flower with moderate ease in south Florida, but ours has had inconsistent crops. While the flowers and fruit possess good resistance to anthracnose, Mallika is very prone to mango bacterial black spot.
Additionally, Mallika fruit often has physiological problems such as internal break down of the flesh. The fruit is difficult to determine proper maturity, and should be harvested such that it ripens over the course of 5 to 7 days. Tree ripened Mallika tend to be poor quality, while literature has led some to harvest them too early, also resulting in poor flavor.
Mallika is a mid-season mango here and the fruit typically ripen from late June through July.
