Mangos belong to Anacardiaceae species of flowering plants, and are believed to have originated in the area of modern Northeast India, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.
Over thousands of years, they have spread throughout the tropics and become firmly established as one of the most loved and celebrated fruits in the world.
Their cultivation has brought about a massive diversity of varieties with one of the widest spectrum of flavors of any fruit in existence, along with numerous culinary uses.
Many people across the world not only value the mango for its eating qualities and health benefits; for them, the mango also represents a piece of home. A timeless part of their culture and who they are.
Consumed ripe or green, in recipe dishes or most commonly simply on their own, mangos offer a fascinating and delicious opportunity to the palate. They are also high in Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Beta Carotene, an excellent source of fiber and many antioxidants and flavonoids.
